About the SMBA

Supporting and promoting local business is the primary goal of our organization.

The Sellwood Moreland Business Alliance or SMBA is an active neighborhood business association for the neighborhood. We welcome long-standing and new businesses to our organization! The SMBA exists to support our local businesses through multiple channels: maps/website that facilitate information on the layout and businesses in our district, super events that bring in customers to our area, and networking opportunities to allow us to meet and support each other.

HOW WE SUPPORT OUR MEMBER BUSINESSES

From our three milestone events each year, Decemberville, Summerville and the Monster March, we find neat ways to involve our business members in supporting the community and crafting meaningful experiences for those who visit Sellwood Moreland neighborhood.

Each year we print thousands of walking maps for visitors to better explore the neighborhood. The map, along with our newsletter, website and social media presence lets visitors and residents know of all the happenings.

Our monthly member meetings and 3x / Yr Meet, Greet & Eat networking socials provides opportunities for local business to learn, boast and connect.

Partnerships with Venture Portland, Travel Portland, SMILE, local schools and other neighborhood organizations helps us lend and leverage resources and promote community.

The Sellwood Moreland Business Alliance is very proud to have one of the first informational kiosks in the city of Portland. Our kiosk has a map showing our SMBA member businesses and neighborhood amenities (parks, walking trails, library, community center, etc…) as well as space to feature upcoming neighborhood events.

Each year we continue to build on our tried and true elements as well as add new endeavors as determined by our membership – all with the goal of bringing in customers and driving up revenue. We accomplish this through the collective efforts of all our members, so we thank you in advance for joining the SMBA.
