The 1st annual Everything Under the Sun Parade promises to bring joy and connection to our Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood!
Join us: Saturday, June 15th, from 1:30-2:30p at Sellwood Park
Led by a giant paper mache sun puppet and featuring a colorful array of puppets, costumes, and music, the parade will embody a spirit of art and community resilience. It draws inspiration from public processions like Bread and Puppet in Vermont and Heart of the Beast Puppet Theatre in Minneapolis. Anyone can join this neighborhood parade! We hope that community members will connect with their friends and neighbors to create what we are calling “walking floats,” celebrating a theme that brings them joy (favorite pollinators! Dogs in costumes)!
We believe that building strong community connections is essential for our collective well-being. The parade is a celebration of our shared humanity and a reminder that joy and connection are powerful antidotes to the stresses of modern life.
Sign up below to join the festivities and be part of this joyful celebration. Share your interest below by registering your “walking float,” signing up to attend a puppet workshop, be a volunteer parade marshal, or let us know that you plan to attend the parade!
We will be offering public puppet building workshops with reused materials at the Sellwood Farmer’s Market on May 25 10a-2p and at the SMILE station on June 8th 1-4p.
