Sellwood Moreland Business Alliance - Volunteer Opportunity

BLOGGER/WRITER VOLUNTEER

This position supports the Sellwood Moreland Business Alliance by providing content for the Explore Sellwood Moreland website. This position will be remote (volunteer-from-home). However, the ideal candidate will reside within or near the Sellwood Moreland neighborhood.

This volunteer position will create professionally-written content for the Explore Sellwood Moreland website, email and social media channels.

Location

Remote/Virtual Volunteer Opportunity
The ideal candidate will live within or near the Sellwood Moreland neighborhood.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the communications calendar to research, perform interviews, write and post blog stories within deadlines. Blog posts are typically 300-500 words and must be approved by SMBA staff.

  • Assist in creating other written materials such as press releases, social media content and email newsletters, as needed.

  • If local, shoot photos of businesses and people to include in blog posts. Secure signed information release forms.

Qualifications

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer virtually.

  • Strong writing, editing, research and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be familiar with basic computer operations and can upload content to the blog or by email remotely.

  • Authentic, creative, funny and engaging storyteller.

  • Some photography experience or interest is preferred but not required. Photos can be shot with a phone or professional camera.

Time Commitment

Flexible. Work hours that fit your schedule as long as the content can meet deadlines. 
We are looking for someone who can commit to at least three months
